  • Day 1

    ARRIVE CHENNAI

    Meet and garland upon arrival in Chennai. Transfer to Hotel. The gateway to the south and the capital of the state of Tamil Nadu, Madras or Chennai is a vibrant metropolis and a combination of old-world charm and modern-day efficiency. After lunch city tour of Chennai visiting Fort St. George, the seat of the state government and the legislative assembly. The fort was built in 1652 by the British East India Company. The fort contains the fort museum with its collection of memorabilia of the East India co, also visit Government Museum and San Thomas Cathederal. Overnight stay at the hotel.

  • Day 2

    CHENNAI – MAHABALIPURAM

    Morning after breakfast, depart for Kanchipuram (Approx 1 hr drive), Kanchipuram (64 kms from Chennai) is the ancient capital of the Pallavas famous as a city of 1000 Temples and still has 124 shrines. The first temple dedicated to Shiva was built in the 7th and 8th century and has paintings on the walls. Temples of Ekambaswara, Kailasanatha, Sri Kamakshi and Varadarajaswamy are of interest. Kanchipuram is also famous for its silks. After lunch drive to Mahabalipuram. Upon arrival visit the magnificent rock temples and carvings in Mahabalipuram. Five Rathas (chariots), ceremonial chariots, rock-cut monoliths, named after the 5 Pandavas. The Shore Temple by the sea surrounded by gardens designed according to descriptions of the original layout from ancient times. Bhagiratha’s Penance is a bas- relief (27 to 9m) sculptured on the face of two enormous adjacent rocks, depicts, the penance of Arjuna, myraid characters from the Mahabharata, realistic life-size figures of animals, gods and saints watching the descent of the river goddess Ganga to earth.     MAHABALIPURAM – PONDICHERRY

    Morning after breakfast, depart for Pondicherry and transfer to Hotel. Pondicherry was a French settlement that comprised Pondy, Yanam, Karaikal, and Mahe. There is a strong influence of French culture on Pondicherry town, especially on its architecture, a result of the centuries-old relations this place maintained with France. Later visit Sri Aurobindo Ashram - The ashram was founded in 1920 when Sri Aurobindo reached Pondicherry, a French colony and put in place his ideas of peaceful community. The ashram houses the samadhi of Sri Aurobindo and the mother and open to everybody for fixed hours every day. Pondicherry Museum Situated in the Government Park - Museum has a very good sculpture gallery and a section of archaeological finds from the Roman settlement at Arikamedu. There is also a superb collection of the snail shells from the Pondicherry Region. Later visit Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus - built in the Gothic style, this massive church is one of the most beautiful churches in Pondicherry. Overnight at the hotel.

    PONDICHERRY – THANJORE – TRICHY

    Morning after breakfast, depart for Trichy en route visit Chidambaram and Tanjavur (Tanjore). Thanjavur - was the ancient capital of the Chola kings whose origins, go back to the beginning of the Christian era. Probably the greatest chola emperors were Raja Raja who was responsible for building the Brihadishwara Temple. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Tanjore - was the capital of the Chola Empire from the tenth to the fourteenth centuries. A Chola king, Raja Raja Chola, who held the throne from 985 to 1016, built the greatest of the empire's 74 temples, the Brahadeeswarar, with its soaring tower over the inner sanctum. This tower rises more than 62 meters (200 feet). On its dome rests a single block of granite weighing 80 tons. After sightseeing of Thanjavur, continue to drive towards Trichy. Tiruchirapalli, called Tiruchi or Trichy in Short, was built by the Nayak rulers of Madurai around a rock fort. Tiruchi is on the banks of the Kaveri river and is famous for the Ranganatha Temple at Srirangam, 10 km away. Overnight stay at the hotel.

    TRICHY – MADURAI

    After breakfast, you will go for sightseeing of Trichy. Visit the 'Rock Fort Temple’ which rises abruptly to a height of 273 ft. A steep staircase cut into the rock leads upto the Fort. At the first level are the remnants of a huge hall blasted into ruins in 1772. The next storey is the Mathrubhuteshwarer Shrine dedicated to Shiva. Finally, at the top of the hill, the 'Uchhi Pillayar Koil' - a Ganesh Temple offering a commanding view of the city. After sightseeing leave for Madurai - situated on the banks of river Vaigai, Madurai is more than 2,500 years old and has a rich cultural heritage and history. Madurai was an important cultural and commercial centre even as early as 550 AD. Madurai was the capital city for the great Pandya kings. Later visit Tirrumalai Nayak Palace and Thirumohur (1O km). This place has its legendary origin in the distant past when Devas (Gods) and Asuras (Demons) churned the ocean to get Amritham (nectar). Overnight stay at the hotel.

  • Day 6

    MADURAI – MUNNAR

    Morning after breakfast, drive to Munnar (165 Kms/04 hrs drive). Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel. Munnar - Situated at the confluence of three mountain streams - Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundale, 1600 Meter above sea level. It was summer resort of erstwhile British Government in South India and the best hill station with sprawling tea plantations in the state. Blessed with a rich variety of flora and fauna. Rest day at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.

  • Day 7

    MUNNAR

    After breakfast proceed for local sightseeing of Munnar where you can visit Mattupatty Dam, Echo Point, Tea Plantation, (closed on Monday), Eravikulam National Park (Closed during breeding season). Evening back to hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.

  • Day 8

    MUNNAR – THEKKADY (110 KMS/03 HRS)

    Morning after breakfast, continue your journey to Thekkady (110 k.m.) Reaching there in few hours, check into the resort and relax. Later-on proceed for a spice plantation tour. Explore wide variety of spices in Kerala. You may also shop few varieties. Travel by boat on the Periyar Lake to spot the elephants and avifauna for which this reserve is well known. Boat cruises and sunrise and sunset are particularly recommended. Back to the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.

    THEKKADY – COCHIN

    Morning after breakfast, check-out from the hotel and drive towards Cochin (160 Kms/04 hrs drive). Cochin – “Queen of the Arabian Sea” has one of the finest natural harbours in the world. Upon arrival, check-in at hotel. Afternoon, proceed for a half day sightseeing tour of Cochin. Depart to Jew Street which is famous for the Jewish Synagogue and Jew Town. Visit St.Francis Church, first European church built in India in the early 16 th century and the famed Vasco Da Gama was buried in this courtyard. Thereafter, visit the Dutch Palace in Mattanchery. (Jewish Synagogue is Closed on Friday /Saturday & Jewish holidays) (Dutch Palace is closed on Fridays) Free time in the Jew Street. It is fascinating & vibrant Narrow Street with many shops selling handicrafts, souvenirs, Antiques & Ethnic Garments. Later proceed to Fort Kochi and visit Famous Chinese fishing nets. Evening drive to a cultural centre to witness Cultural Kaleidoscope (fusion of south Indian dance performances). Overnight stay at the hotel.

    COCHIN – KUMARAKOM (55 KMS/02 HRS)

    Upon arrival at Cochin airport, our representative/driver will receive you and drive to Kumarakom. Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel. Spend the day at leisure. Evening enjoys the backwaters of Kumarakom. Overnight stay at the hotel.

  • Day 11

    KUMARAKOM

    Morning after breakfast, proceed for sightseeing around Kumarakom - a tiny backwater hamlet perched on the western banks of the Vembanadu Lake. The stretch of backwater is spread over 900 sq. kms. The community adheres to tradition and the local population prefers to live adhering to their old ways. Choose a canoe, motor boat or a houseboat at extra cost and devour the beauty of this backwater paradise at its best. Overnight stay at the hotel.

  • Day 12

    KUMARAKOM – ALLEPPEY (HOUSEBOAT)

    Early morning around 06.00 AM proceed for bird sanctuary visit. Later return back to hotel. Enjoy breakfast at hotel. In time check-out from the hotel and drive to Alleppey (50 Kms/01 hr drive) hours). Upon arrival, board houseboat for charming backwater cruise. Freshly cooked food will be served on houseboat. Alleppey - This is a quaint town flanked by the Arabian Sea in the west and has a vast network of lakes, lagoons and freshwater rivers criss-crossing it. It is an important backwater destination attracting several thousand foreign / domestic tourists every year and is also famous for its boat races, beaches, marine products and coir industry. Dinner and overnight stay onboard houseboat.

  • Day 13

    ALLEPPEY – KOVALAM (180 KMS/04 HRS)

    Morning after breakfast, de-board houseboat and continue your journey to Kovalam (180 Kms/04 hrs drive). Upon arrival check-in at hotel/resort. Later visit Padmanabhaswami Temple, Srichitra Art Gallery, and Napier Museum Evening enjoy at Kovalam Beach. Overnight stay at the hotel.

  • Day 14

    KOVALAM – THIRUVANANTHAPURAM – KOVALAM

    Morning after breakfast, proceed for sightseeing tour of Thiruvananthapuram, visiting places of interests like Padmanabhaswami temple - renowned for its towering gopuras and temples arts and paintings. The main pavilion of the temple stands impressive with 400 marvellously granite carved pillars. Your guided sightseeing tour will cover the rest of the attractions too. Later drive back to Kovalam. Overnight stay at the hotel.

    KOVALAM - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM (15 KMS)

    Morning enjoy at beach. After late breakfast, drive to Thiruvananthapuram airport (15 Kms away) to board flight for onward destination.
